Fond Farewell to Lucio

Help us celebrate the retirement of Carousel Manager Lucio Schiavone! This beloved member of the Prospect Park community is stepping down from his post of twenty-six years with the Prospect Park Alliance.

Join us on November 5 at 11:45 am at the Carousel. The Alliance will be commemorating Lucio’s significant contributions with a ceremony, naming a favorite horse “Lucio” in his honor, and offering free carousel rides from 12-1 pm.

Flight Quilt Show

Saturday, November 5 , 12 pm – 4 pm

Join the Prospect Park Alliance to see the wonderful work of The Brooklyn Quilters' Guild. This year’s exhibit features the artist’s personal interpretations of “Flight”. These original creations range from traditional to contemporary to mixed media fiber art.  While you are here try your hand at making your own paper quilt collage or add to our community paper patchwork quilt.

Nature Exploration

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

  • Nature Play, 10–11 am: Join Alliance naturalists and learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and develop self-reliance, creativity and problem-solving skills through different outdoor play-based activities.
  • Discovery Pack, 10 am–12 pm:  The Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, a ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.
  • Blooming Naturalists,12–1 pm: So you think you are a Naturalist? Find out at the Audubon Center by learning how to identify birds and use binoculars and field guides.
  • Introduction to Bird Watching, Saturdays, 12–1 pm: Look! Up in the sky, it’s a bird! But what kind of bird is it? Join the Prospect Park Alliance to learn about the magnificent array of birds that call Prospect Park home. Led by the Brooklyn Bird Club.

Now at Lefferts: Our annual show with the Brooklyn Quilters Guild is on display in the month of November. While you are here, make your own paper quilt collage to take home or add it to our community patchwork.

Monument to the Unelected

All Day

NYC Parks, together with the Prospect Park Alliance and Historic House Trust, is pleased to welcome Nina Katchadourian’s Monument to the Unelected to Prospect Park’s Lefferts Historic House. This temporary installation, consisting of 58 signs bearing the names of the losing candidates from every presidential election in American history, will be on display through November 13, 2016 at the Lefferts Historic House.
