Halloween Haunted Walk and Fair

Saturday, October 28 , 12 pm – 3 pm

Prospect Park Alliance invites all local ghosts and ghouls to the 38th Annual Halloween Haunted Walk and Fair! Taking place Saturday, October 28, this much-anticipated annual event brings thousands of families for free, ghastly fun to Prospect Park.

This year, the festivities will continue with the first-ever Prospect Park Halloween after party, BKLYN BOO! at City Point in downtown Brooklyn. The Halloween Hoots and Howls continue at City Point with boo-gie down music by DJ Mikey Palms and Mister Marc the MC, bewitching face painting, wicked nail art, a ghostly photo booth, costume contest and more!

Our official transporation partner, Lyft, is providing $5 off 2 rides when you sign up for membership!

Halloween in Prospect Park is supported in part by City Point and HSBC.

Nature Exploration

Saturday, October 28 , 10 am – 1 pm

Join Prospect Park Alliance for fun nature activities each weekend, and also participate in our 150th anniversary species count for special prizes.

  • Discovery Pack, 10 am–12 pm: get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.
  • Blooming Naturalist, 10 am: So you think you are a naturalist? Investigate the natural world by learning how to use tools and guides used by biologist. This activity leads you through activities to discover the Audubon Center and Prospect Park.
  • Nature’s Helpers, 11 am: Learn how to keep Prospect Park healthy by cleaning up the lakeshore, spreading mulch or removing invasive species. This is activity is led by Alliance staff and all materials are provided.

Join Prospect Park Alliance to celebrate fall at Lefferts with the old Dutch craft Scharen Knippen. Cut out autumn and halloween scenes and patterns some designed in the 19th century by Mrs. Lefferts herself. While you're here join us for potato sack races and other fun historic toys and games.

Prospect Park Alliance is pleased to offer four different tours in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Prospect Park Alliance. Whether strolling the Long Meadow, meandering around the Vale of Cashmere, observing the arborists at work or walking the Woodlands, members will hear our experts talk about the fascinating history of the Park and what the Alliance is doing for its future.

This event is complimentary for Alliance members.  Learn more about becoming a member.

Boo at the Zoo

Saturday, October 28 , 12 pm – 5 pm

Get ready to go "batty" at the Zoo with a fun filled weekend of special activities for Halloween. Face painting and a tour through the spookiest barn around are part of the fun. While you’re here, learn about our Brooklyn bats. Zoo staff are monitoring their activities and have a lot of cool BK bat information to share!

Creepy Crawly Halloween

Saturday, October 28 , 1 pm – 4 pm

Join Prospect Park Alliance for Halloween fun at the Prospect Park Audubon Center. Take a second look at the creatures that give you the creeps, you may find you like them! Participate in fun activities and experiments that will make your spine tingle!

  • Discovery Boxes, 1–4 pm: What's inside?  Put your hand in and fine out!  Fun sensory activity with just the right amount of scary!
  • Owl Pellet Dissection, 1–3 pm: Participants will have the opportunity to pick apart owl pellets, masses of undigested parts of food that owl species occasionally regurgitate!
  • Creepy Crawly Walk, 2–3 pm: Participants will search for Prospect Park's creepy residents and explore the hidden side of the park.
  • Animal Encounter, 3–4 pm: Want to watch the snake gobble up a mouse? Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection and even assist in an actual feeding.

Scary Stories with Tammy Hall

Join Prospect Park Alliance and master storyteller Tammy Hall at Lefferts Historic House, where we will keep the tradition of scary stories alive with tales told in the village of Flatbush 200 years ago. While you’re here make a spooky Halloween cut-out based on a Lefferts family design.

The Means of a Ready Escape: Brooklyn’s Prospect Park

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Prospect Park, Brooklyn Historical Society and Prospect Park Alliance present an exhibition that celebrates the founding vision of the Park, traces its social and historical trajectories, and examines the important role that Prospect Park has played as “Brooklyn’s Backyard” for 150 years. 

The Brooklyn Historical Society is closed on major holidays.
