Mid-Winter Break in Prospect Park

Join the Prospect Park Alliance all week during Mid-Winter Break for family-friendly activities at the Prospect Park Audubon Center and Lefferts Historic House.

  • Wild in Winter, February 20–24, 2017
    Prospect Park Audubon Center, 12–3pm, Free
    • Bundle up and find out what your favorite Park animals are doing this winter. Join Alliance naturalists for the Great Backyard Bird Count, a world-wide conservation effort established in 1989 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society.

      Discovery Pack, 12–3 pm, Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our Discovery Packs, ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.

      Blooming Naturalist, 1 pm, So you think you are a Naturalist? Find out at the Audubon Center by learning how to identify birds and use binoculars and field guides. Participants can also participate in a free Audubon craft project!  

      Great Backyard Bird Count, 2 pm, Join Alliance Naturalists in this fun Citizen Science project to count wild birds and help contribute to real-time accounts of species in our area.  Each checklist submitted helps researchers learn more about the health of birds and how to best protect them!

      Animal Encounter, 3 pm, Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection.
  • Coming in from the Cold
    Monday–Friday, February 20–24, 1–3pm
    Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation
    • Join us at the Lefferts Historic House and have fun with traditional toys and games.

Art in the Parks: Carole Eisner

All Day, Monday, February 20, 2017

In partnership with NYC Parks' Art in the Parks project, the Prospect Park Alliance presents a public exhibition of sculpture by Carole Eisner. Four sculptures, created from I-beams twisted into lyrical forms will be on display at Grand Army Plaza, Bartel Pritchard Square, Litchfield Villa and the Peninsula through Spring 2017.
