Before photography, silhouette was one of the most popular portraiture techniques in 18th and 19th century America. Join the Prospect Park Alliance at Lefferts Historic House this October to learn about this tradition and create and embellish miniature personal silhouette portraits.

2019 Prospect Park Alliance Gala

This festive evening in Brooklyn’s Backyard will honor longtime Alliance supporters Lorraine and Gordon DiPaolo, as well as journalist and author Pete Hamill. The evening begins with a cocktail hour, followed by a seated dinner and program celebrating the work of the Alliance. Guests will also enjoy a live auction, DJ set and dancing. Tickets begin at $750, and all funds raised by the Gala will bolster the Alliance’s mission to sustain, restore and advance Prospect Park.

Join Prospect Park Alliance every Saturday + Sunday through November for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

Discovery Pack, 10 am–12 pm: Come explore nature on your own with our Discovery Packs, a backpack filled with nature activities and exploration tools, perfect for families and kids to interact with the park in a whole new way!
Animal Encounter, 11 am–12 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 11 am. Animal Encounter is presented in partnership with Macy's.
Nature’s Helpers, 12–1 pm: Help do your part to keep Prospect Park healthy by cleaning up the lakeshore. In this citizen science activity Audubon staff will guide groups to remove litter and record the findings. Fun for all ages and all materials are provided. This program leaves promptly at 12 pm.

It's My Park! Day

Join Prospect Park Alliance and REI to care for your park on It’s My Park! Day, where volunteers will participate in a citywide effort to care for our green spaces with brooms, shovels, rakes and trash grabbers. In Prospect Park, we'll be focusing our efforts on Lookout Hill with a cleanup, path maintenance and woodland restoration work. Groups please complete our Group Inquiry Form.
