Nestled inside Prospect Park's tree-shaded southwest corner, this much-loved market, occuring every Sunday and Wednesday, is where South Slope and Windsor Terrace residents stock up on locally grown staples. The offerings range from a selection of vegetables, fruits, baked goods, plants, and flowers, to fresh-caught fish and organic baked goods. Every weekend in December and January, explore Prospect Park Zoo’s wintery outdoor trail, warm up in their indoor exhibits, and discover the special adaptations animals have to survive in the cold. You’ll be toasty warm at the Zoo as you find out who at the zoo loves the cold…and who doesn’t. Post your “Zoo Year” resolutions for a better planet on the Zoo’s special wall and on social media to inspire others.

Family Christmas Bird Count

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation. Plus, join in on our Family Christmas Bird Count, where blooming naturalists of all ages can join a tradition more than 100 years in the making. The Prospect Park Audubon Center Family Christmas Bird Count is a homage to the nationwide bird census that helps conservation researchers track the long-term health of bird populations. Counts leave promptly at 10:30 am, 11:30 am and 12:30 pm.
