COVID-19 Update: With many other food access points now closed, the need for our markets to supply fresh, healthy food is even greater. To meet the growing need in the safest way possible Grow NYC has issued new safety protocols. Please visit the Grow NYC website for more info: www.grownyc.org

Nestled inside Prospect Park's tree-shaded southwest corner, this much-loved market, occurring every Sunday and Wednesday, is where South Slope and Windsor Terrace residents stock up on locally grown staples. The offerings range from a selection of vegetables, fruits, baked goods, plants, and flowers, to fresh-caught fish and organic baked goods. For a full calendar of events and a list of sellers, visit the GrowNYC website.

This Greenmarket at Bartel-Pritchard Square is also open on Sundays, 9 am–3 pm, May 5 through December 22.

Chucho Valdés - Jazz Batá + Dafnis Prieto Si o Si Quartet

Wednesday, June 26 , 7:30 pm – 10 pm, 2019
2019-06-26T00:00:00-04:00
11225, NY, Brooklyn

Chucho Valdés and Dafnis Prieto Si o Si Quartet will perform at the Bandshell as part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, presented by BRIC in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance.

Chuco Valdés was born into music; his father, the great pianist and composer Ramón “Bebo” Valdés, led the fabled Sabor de Cuba, considered one of the great orchestras in modern Cuban music history, with which Chucho debuted as a teenager. In 1972, Valdés released Jazz Batá, a forward-thinking convergence of modern jazz and folkloric rhythms that prefigured much of the Afro-Cuban jazz of today. Last year’s Jazz Batá 2 is a brilliant sequel that, almost a half-century later, “burnishes his stature as a towering Afro-Cuban pianist of our time” (WBGO).

With his electrifying quartet, the Cuban percussionist Dafnis Prieto makes music that is “dynamic to the extreme … a slippery amalgam of complex polyrhythm and incantatory melody” (The New York Times). A MacArthur Fellowship, GRAMMY Award, and multiple Latin GRAMMY nominations are among his many honors.

For the latest information, including weather updates, set times, seating configurations, and FAQs, please visit the BRIC website.
