Nature Exploration

Saturday, September 7 , 10 am – 1 pm

Join Prospect Park Alliance every Saturday + Sunday through November for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

Discovery Pack, 10 am–12 pm: Come explore nature on your own with our Discovery Packs, a backpack filled with nature activities and exploration tools, perfect for families and kids to interact with the park in a whole new way!
Animal Encounter, 11 am–12 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 11 am. Animal Encounter is presented in partnership with Macy's.
Nature’s Helpers, 12–1 pm: Help do your part to keep Prospect Park healthy by cleaning up the lakeshore. In this citizen science activity Audubon staff will guide groups to remove litter and record the findings. Fun for all ages and all materials are provided. This program leaves promptly at 12 pm.

Intro to Birdwatching

Saturday, September 7 , 12 pm – 1 pm

Look! Up in the sky, it’s a bird! But what kind of bird is it? Join Prospect Park Alliance and the Brooklyn Bird Club every Saturday through November to take a tour and learn about the magnificent array of birds that call Prospect Park home. Please note this tour leaves promptly at 12 pm from outside the Audubon Center.

Saturday Volunteer Corps

Saturday, September 7 , 10 am – 2 pm

Prospect Park Alliance's Saturday Volunteer Corps is a great way to explore Prospect Park and give back to your community! Every Saturday starting in May, join Prospect Park Alliance to help care for Brooklyn's Backyard. Volunteers will help with tree care, maintaining the park's perimeter, litter patrol, bench painting and more!

Radical Raptors: Pop-Up Audubon I

Saturday, September 7 , 10 am – 3 pm

Join Prospect Park Alliance every Saturday and Sunday in September to learn about the radical raptors in Brooklyn’s Backyard. Gather the whole family to learn about different species of hawks, owls and other raptors that migrate through Prospect Park. Presented in partnership with Con Edison.

Nature Play, 10 am–2 pm: Join Alliance naturalists to enjoy play-based nature activities, including dissecting owl pellets and painting with mud! Children gain a deeper appreciation of nature, while strengthening their self-reliance, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Nature's Helpers, 12–1 pm: Learn how to keep Prospect Park healthy by cleaning up the lakeshore, spreading mulch or weeding.  This program leaves promptly at 12 pm.
Family Birdwatching, 1–2 pm: Did you know that as an Important Bird Area, Prospect Park supports an exceptional diversity of migrating birds and is an essential stopover for about 250 species of birds? After learning how to use binoculars, participants of all ages can join Alliance naturalists on a walk to learn how to identify these birds! This program leaves promptly at 1 pm.

Climate Clues: Pop-Up Audubon II

Saturday, September 7 , 10 am – 3 pm

Explore how climate change and environmental impacts affect the park’s ecosystems. Pop-Up Audubon II is best for ages 8 and over. Presented in partnership with Con Edison.

Discovery Pack, 10 am–2 pm: Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.
Nethermead + Ravine Ramble: 11 am–12 pm: Join Alliance naturalists for a guided nature walk along Prospect Park’s watercourse and explore the unique ecosystems of the Ravine and Nethermead. This program leaves promptly at 11 am.
Junior Naturalists, 12–1 pm: Investigate how climate change and other human impacts have altered ecosystems in Prospect Park in this citizen science program. This program leaves promptly at 12 pm.
Nature’s Helpers, 1–2 pm: Let’s lend a helping hand to make our park a better place. Learn how mulch helps trees, spread wood chips or protect the environment by removing damaging litter. This program leaves promptly at 1 pm.
Family Bird Watching, 2–3 pm: After learning how to use binoculars, join our naturalists to identify some of the 250 species of birds that call Prospect Park home. This program starts promptly at 2 pm.

Prospect Park Zoo

Migration Sensation

Saturday, September 7 , 11 am – 4 pm

It’s time to fly south – or is it? Join Prospect Park Zoo every weekend in September to learn which birds are flying south for the winter and which are staying right here at home. Visit some of the zoo’s most beautiful residents and learn about the amazing avian conservation efforts by the Wildlife Conservation Society. Family fun also includes themed games, a scavenger hunt and bird biofact stations.

T.E.A.L.® Walk and 5K Run

Saturday, September 7 , 8 am – 12 pm

The T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run is an event that celebrates the courage of ovarian cancer survivors and the strength of the families who’ve been touched by the disease, while spreading awareness to the general public and raising money for research. Join us for our 11th year of connecting families and individuals touched by ovarian cancer, crossing finish lines, achieving personal goals, spreading awareness, fundraising for medical research, and making unforgettable memories! We also celebrate survivors through our T.E.A.L.® Survivor Ceremony where every year each woman who's ever been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in attendance is invited on stage at the Bandshell and presented with a special honor.

Online registration is $35 until September 2nd, 2019, when online registration closes. Day of registration is $40 at the Late Registration Booth.

Children's Corner

Member's Morning at Children's Corner

Saturday, September 7 , 10 am – 12 pm

Prospect Park Alliance invites members at the $150 Family Supporter level and above to join us for a morning of fun family activities. Enjoy complimentary admission to the Prospect Park Zoo, including a live sea lion training session and programming at the Discovery Center. Then, head over to Lefferts Historic House and the Carousel, which will be open early exclusively for members. Enjoy old-fashioned toys and games popular with Brooklyn children in the 19th century and complimentary rides on the Carousel.

Weekend Volunteer Corps

Get involved in your community! Join Prospect Park Alliance to help spruce up gardens, paint fences + benches, weed, spread mulch, and clean and maintain pathways. We can accommodate any group ranging from just a few people to up to 40 volunteers. Groups please complete our Group Inquiry Form.
