Father John Misty + Jason Isbell: Benefit Concert
Join Prospect Park Alliance and BRIC for this spectacular show where indie rock and alt-country come together when singer-songwriters Father John Misty and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit bring their co-headlining tour to the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival this summer.
Father John Misty, also known as Joshua Tillman or J. Tillman, has a 15-year career in the music industry, including stints with groups including Demon Hunter, Saxon Shore, Fleet Foxes, and more. His solo career took off in 2012 thanks to a sound that featured “smooth and gentle soft-rock with his olden croon centered so perfectly on every pitch,” (Pitchfork) and his 2018 album, God’s Favorite Customer is “without a doubt Tillman’s most personal album to date under his Father John Misty moniker” (Paste).
Originally a member of the influential alt-country entourage Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell’s solo work weaves elements of Southern rock, gospel, and American ballad into a vivid musical voice. The four-time GRAMMY Award winner returns to the Bandshell with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, having released Live From The Ryman in 2018, featuring “invigorated versions of Isbell’s best tunes given a crackling edge” (American Songwriter).
British singer-songwriter Jade Bird, described by Rolling Stone as “an indie-pop sensation with a punk edge,” opens the show.
