Lefferts Historic House Tours

Join the Prospect Park Alliance at Lefferts Historic House to view interesting relics from 19th-century family life, and explore a fully furnished 1820s bedroom. Also view A Stitch In Time Saves Nine, an exhibition of textiles and costume from the Lefferts collection, which highlights the handwork of women in the textiles arts and the progression to industrialized clothing and textiles. Many of the objects are on display for the first time at Lefferts.

Tours every half hour.

It's My Park! Day

Saturday, October 18 , 9 am – 2 pm, 2014

Take this opportunity to care for Prospect Park! As part of a larger citywide effort, the Prospect Park Alliance and REI invite volunteers to take brooms, shovels, rakes and trash grabbers to rake paths, clean woodlands and help prepare the Park for winter. There will be a yoga warm-up at 9 am, and lunch provided.

All groups and individuals must pre-register online with REI; everyone who volunteers will get a free REI Volunteer t-shirt.

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs that explore different areas of Prospect Park each month.

Nature on the Go!, 2–3 pm
Brooklyn's last-remaining forest becomes a real-world laboratory for hands-on discovery. Join the Prospect Park Alliance for an in-depth look at the largest organism within this habitat (trees) and discover the important role forests play in providing different habitats for the Park’s wildlife.

Nature’s Helpers, 3–4 pm
Enjoy nature while helping to keep the Park clean. Learn about mulching, and how it makes the Park green and healthy. Tools, garbage bags and trash grabbers will be provided.

Family Bird Watching, 4–5 pm
Join the Prospect Park Alliance to learn about fall migration in Prospect Park.

Race Around The Farm Yard
