OHNY: Woodland Restoration in the Prospect Park Vale

Join Leila Mougoui Bakhtiari, Director of Landscape Management, and Deborah Kirschner, Vice President of External Relations, at Prospect Park Alliance, the non-profit that sustains Prospect Park in partnership with the City, to learn about recent and upcoming restoration efforts in the Vale, an expansive woodland landscape in the northeast corner of the park. Prospect Park is home to Brooklyn’s last remaining forest, and over the past three decades the Alliance has focused on restoring this important wildlife habitat. Learn about the Alliance’s plans to restore the Vale woodlands, which serve as an important habitat to birds and other wildlife, and the community outreach and engagement that has led to a new vision for this lesser-known park landscape to make it more welcoming and accessible to all Brooklyn residents.

Please note there will be two hour-long tours:
10:00 am – 11:00 am
11:00 am – 12:00 pm

This tour will be led on pedestrian pathways but closed toed shoes would be recommended, particularly if there are rainy conditions. The area is not ADA-accessible. It will be fully outdoors, so masks are not required, nor proof of vaccination.
