Virtual Program: Children’s Books and Homemade Animal Costumes with Thyra Heder
Turnstile Tours is moving their programming online as a way to continue providing quality historical content to New York audiences and retain their staff in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. There is a wide variety of experiences to choose from—peruse the full line-up on the Turnstile Tours website!
In the Saturday, April 25 virtual program, children’s author and illustrator Thyra Heder will walk us through the making of FraidyZoo, a picture book created in her Brooklyn Navy Yard studio and inspired by her own childhood experiences at Prospect Park Zoo. You will see early drafts of her sketches for the book, hear interesting stories about her creative process, and she’ll show you how to make animal costumes from what you have in your house! This program is great for all ages, but especially for adults with young children at home. Proceeds will go to support the staff at Turnstile Tours and Thyra Heder during this difficult time.
