Bicycling
Prospect Park attracts cyclists of all levels and abilities. Bicycling is permitted on the Park Drives, including the 3.35-mile loop, which hosts a range of cycling events throughout the year. Bike rentals are available at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside.
Please note the following rules of the road:
- Cycling is permitted only on the main Park Drive, Center Drive and Wellhouse Drive, and prohibited on pedestrian paths. Cyclists must walk their bike on pedestrian paths, except for children under the age of 14. View our Park Drive Cycling Map.
- Cyclists must follow all traffic signs and signals, including stopping at red lights and following park rules related to speed and safety as posted on the NYC Parks website.
- Cyclists and skaters must travel in a counterclockwise direction and use the marked cycling lanes, and be mindful of authorized vehicles also utilizing this lane.
- Bicycles must be equipped with bells or similar warning devices, and have headlights, tail lights and reflectors after dark.
- Helmets are required for children 14 and under, and are suggested for everyone riding bikes or skating.
